Western Australia fast bowler Lance Morris says he hopes to be quicker than before after returning from a year out of cricket following serious back surgery. Morris, who regularly bowled at about 150kph, spent three years trying to manage a stress fracture in his spine before having the operation, telling ABC News he had MRI scans every six weeks and that the injury would sometimes worsen after a heavy day in the field. He was first called into Australia's Test squad in late 2022 after a strong start to the Sheffield Shield season, and a debut appeared close, but injury repeatedly held him back. Now fit and playing again for Western Australia, Morris says he is confident he can get back to his previous speeds, and hopes to go beyond them.
