Lathrop High School won Alaska's Division II state football championship on Saturday, beating Soldotna 35-14 at Wasilla High to complete an unbeaten season, the Anchorage Daily News reports. It is the school's third state title and its first since 2022, and it ended Soldotna's run of three consecutive championships.
Receiver Wilson Lawson caught 11 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns, while quarterback Boaz Balash, son of head coach Luke Balash, threw for 337 yards and five scores. Lathrop took control in the second quarter, scoring twice in 17 seconds either side of a Soldotna fumble, and led 25-14 at half-time. Soldotna's Chase Hall ran for 136 yards and both of his team's touchdowns. It was the seventh straight year the two sides had met in the final.
