Raegan Steinberg, the Jewish owner of Arthurs Nosh Bar in Montreal, says prospective diners have asked for her views on what one called the "genocide in Palestine" before deciding whether to eat at her restaurant, the National Post reports.
She told the paper that a boycott list naming Montreal businesses said to support Israel has circulated since the 7 October 2023 attacks, and that her restaurant is on it.
Ms Steinberg said she does not hide being Jewish but has chosen not to discuss politics, and does not believe she should have to talk about foreign policy to run a business. She said she suspected other restaurateurs were not being asked such questions.
She added that she respects young people spending money in line with their values, and said she was not complaining but wanted people to know what happens behind the scenes.
