Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a closure of Hebron and told the army to prepare a full lockdown of the occupied West Bank, after a shooting at a military checkpoint on Friday left five Israelis wounded, GB News reports.
The Israeli military said two Palestinian gunmen, both 27 and from Hebron, were killed when troops returned fire. It said the men arrived by car at about 7.30am. Two of the wounded are in a critical condition.
In a post on X after meeting his defence minister and security chiefs, Netanyahu said security forces had prevented a major attack and were carrying out extensive arrests, and he vowed to pursue Hamas.
