Netgem has raised the UK price of its Pleio set-top box, the first device to bring the Freely streaming service to any television through an HDMI port, to £129, GB News reports.
The box went on sale for £99 last November, briefly rose to £119.88 two months later and then returned to £99. Freely, developed by the team behind Freeview and Freesat, streams live free-to-air channels and on-demand programmes over the internet, with features such as restarting a programme already under way.
GB News says the French manufacturer is one of many electronics firms raising prices as global component shortages, driven by the rapid build-out of AI data centres, push up the cost of parts. The optional £9.99-a-month subscription for cloud gaming and extra channels is not changing in price.
