Demonstrators gathered in at least 15 Alaskan communities on Saturday as part of the nationwide No Kings day of action, which this time focused on encouraging people to vote early in the 3 November elections.
In Juneau, dozens of people stood in wind and rain near the Juneau-Douglas bridge holding signs criticising the Trump administration, the US war with Iran and record fuel prices. Organisers asked people to vote early, remind friends and family to vote, and keep watch on the state Division of Elections while ballots are counted and certified.
Smaller events took place in places including Valdez, where about two dozen people rallied in support of candidates challenging Republican incumbents, and Nome. Early in-person voting opens at many locations across Alaska on Monday.
