Almost all major polls show Brazil's presidential run-off on Sunday between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro as too close to call, the Buenos Aires Times reports. A PoderData survey published on Thursday had Bolsonaro on 49% and Lula on 48%, within its margin of error, while a Quaest poll for TV Globo put them at 45% and 44%.
Pollsters underestimated Bolsonaro in the first round, when he took 47.03% of valid votes to Lula's 45.15%, and have since adjusted their models for a two-candidate race and high volatility.
Both campaigns are trying to win over the more than 33 million people who did not vote in the first round, a record abstention of 21.08% of the electorate. The paper said the final televised debate could still shift support.
