A WA charity that runs community gardens and nutrition programmes in remote Aboriginal communities says the state government has ignored more than 20 requests for talks over three years, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
EON Aboriginal Foundation, founded in 2005 to tackle problems such as type 2 diabetes and kidney disease, wrote to the premier's office in March describing the treatment as arrogant and unprofessional. Chair Caroline de Mori asked for a meeting with relevant ministers and a clear way forward.
Eight months later, she told the paper, no minister has replied, while more than 60 communities are waiting to join the programme. De Mori said others in the not-for-profit sector had similar experiences and accused the government of listening only to a small circle of advisers.
