Russia's Justice Ministry has added Maxim Kurnikov, editor-in-chief of the exiled news outlet Ekho, to its register of so-called foreign agents, Meduza reports.
Ekho was set up abroad by former journalists from the Moscow radio station Ekho Moskvy. The outlet itself was given the same designation in July 2026.
Others added to the list in the latest update include Yelena Shuvalova, a former Moscow City Duma member who leads the Novosibirsk branch of the Rassvet party, two online projects, an association of German cultural organisations and a private company. The ministry updates the register regularly, and it already includes many exiled journalists, media projects and opposition figures.
