Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and flash flooding are forecast across most Australian states this weekend, after a week of flooding in Queensland, The Guardian reports.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warnings for South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania, and had nine flood warnings in place for southern Queensland on Saturday morning. Storms were expected in central and eastern Queensland, Melbourne's eastern suburbs and parts of South Australia, with heavy rain in Tasmania overnight.
A cold front is due to cross NSW on Sunday, bringing storms to Sydney, Brisbane and inland eastern areas, senior meteorologist David Crock said.
Parts of Queensland have had more than twice their usual October rainfall in a few days. The Sunshine Coast hinterland and Caboolture recorded 300-400mm over a week, and fire crews carried out more than 16 swift-water rescues on Thursday.
