Signal fault halts trains running through central Oslo

·

A signalling fault has stopped train services running through Oslo on Friday evening, causing delays and cancellations on every line that passes through the Norwegian capital, NRK reports.

Rail infrastructure operator Bane Nor said the fault began in the afternoon and engineers were working to find and fix it. Spokesperson Anna Langhammer said most trains were turning back at Skøyen and Oslo Central Station, and that it was not yet clear how long the repairs would take.

Trains were also running at reduced speed between Skøyen and Lysaker because of a separate signal problem. The Romeriksporten tunnel was closed earlier in the evening after another fault, but Bane Nor said that had been repaired and the tunnel had reopened, although services could take some time to return to normal.
