South Korea's defence ministry has again proposed military talks with North Korea to agree exactly where the land border runs and reduce the risk of accidental clashes, CNA reports. The offer, announced on Friday by deputy defence minister Kim Hong-cheol, follows a landmine blast in the demilitarised zone in September that seriously injured two South Korean soldiers.
Seoul's military concluded that North Korea had laid the mines south of the Military Demarcation Line, a finding Pyongyang rejects. Kim said North Korean troops had crossed the line while building roads and fences and laying mines near it in recent years.
The ministry first proposed talks on the border's location last November, but North Korea did not respond.
