The man suspected of last week's shooting spree in the western suburbs of Paris has been transferred to a police psychiatric unit, French prosecutors said on Sunday, Africanews reports.
One person was killed and five were wounded when shots were fired from a vehicle driving through Trappes and La Verrière. A 12-year-old girl hit by eight bullets remains in a critical condition. The 39-year-old suspect, named only as Kevin T., was arrested on Friday with a machine gun and tear-gas grenades in his car, and is reported to have schizophrenia. President Emmanuel Macron called the attack racist terrorism, as most victims had foreign backgrounds.
Anti-terrorism prosecutors said he would be observed for about 48 hours to decide whether he can be questioned. A lawyer for the family of Pengo Bossio Wangi, 26, who was killed, questioned the move. Marches were held on Sunday.
