At least 35 guests reported falling ill after eating at RE-NAA in Stavanger, one of only two restaurants in Norway with three Michelin stars, NRK reports, citing the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
Twenty-one of the guests ate there between 28 and 31 January, and another 14 from a single group the following week. One diner described severe vomiting, diarrhoea and fever, and suspected norovirus. The restaurant says a chef was ill with what may have been norovirus at the time, but neither it nor the authority has found a confirmed cause. Shellfish sent for testing were clear.
The restaurant removed dishes, carried out a full deep clean and will limit raw shellfish in winter. The inspector found no wider faults and classed the case as a less serious breach. Chef Sven Erik Renaa said complaints were handled individually.
