Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu was due to launch the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the 2027 presidential election at a rally in Kaduna on Saturday, Premium Times reports.
Supporters spent Friday night inside the Ranchers Bees Stadium and on nearby streets to secure places, with crowds building from early morning. Party members and officials from all seven North-West states were expected. An aide to Kebbi's governor said hotels were fully booked.
An analyst quoted by Daily Trust said Kaduna was chosen because of its central place in northern politics, its transport links and its heavy security presence.
The launch follows a tense build-up. The opposition African Democratic Congress accused the APC of using state resources and security officers to guard its campaign posters, which APC supporters denied. The APC in turn alleged opposition plans to deface its billboards.
