A man accused of attempted murder over a stabbing in a flat in Trondheim's Møllenberg district has told Trøndelag District Court that he acted in self-defence, NRK reports.
The defendant admits stabbing three people in March last year, including one man in the heart and another seven times in the upper body, but denies criminal guilt. Four people were taken to St Olav's Hospital, and the prosecutor said one victim was clinically dead on arrival and survived only by luck.
Giving evidence on the first day of the three-day trial, the man said he had gone to the flat to recover a 50,000-kroner loan, was locked in a bedroom, beaten and threatened with torture and death, and used a knife he had brought with him to escape. He apologised in court to the man he stabbed in the heart.
