Ukrainian drones reportedly struck targets in the Siberian city of Omsk on Saturday, about 2,500 kilometres from the border, the Kyiv Independent reports, citing Ukrainian monitoring channels.
A fire was reported at the Omsky Kauchuk petrochemical plant, one of Russia's largest, which produces synthetic rubber and a fuel additive and, according to the monitoring channel Exilenova Plus, forms part of the supply chain for missile fuel. A warehouse belonging to the online retailer Ozon was also said to have been hit.
The regional governor, Vitaliy Khotsenko, confirmed a drone attack on a logistics hub in the city and said staff had been evacuated. The Kyiv Independent said it could not immediately verify the reports. Omsk's oil refinery was struck earlier this month, and Ukraine says such attacks are aimed at weakening Russia's ability to wage war.
