Three months of Ukrainian drone attacks on warehouses run by Russia's biggest online marketplaces, Wildberries and Ozon, have destroyed stock and disrupted the livelihoods of staff and small traders, according to reporting by the independent journalists' cooperative Bereg, republished by Meduza.
The first strikes hit Wildberries logistics centres in Elektrostal near Moscow and in Kotovsk, Tambov region, on 18 July, and an Ozon site was attacked for the first time in late August. The consultancy IBC Global counted 49 attacks on 36 warehouse sites belonging to various companies between 18 July and 24 September.
The two firms run hundreds of logistics facilities across more than 20 regions and pay warehouse staff well above many local averages. Workers and sellers interviewed described lost goods and income, though many said the pay still outweighed the risks.
