Boca Juniors host River Plate at La Bombonera on Sunday in a Superclásico that could shape the race for Argentina's annual league title, the Buenos Aires Times reports.
With two rounds left, Boca and Argentinos Juniors lead the annual table on 57 points, ahead of Rosario Central on 56 and Vélez Sarsfield on 55. The annual table, which combines the Apertura and Clausura tournaments, has carried its own championship since 2025 and also decides Copa Libertadores places for next year.
Boca, managed by Rodolfo Arruabarrena, have already reached the Clausura last 16 after a late win over Independiente, and are also in the Copa Argentina semi-finals and the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Mineiro on 21 November. River, on 52 points, need a result to keep their own hopes alive. Arruabarrena said his players had stepped up but warned that nothing had been won yet.
