Israeli forces demolish homes of Hebron brothers who killed two soldiers

·

Israeli forces have blown up the family homes of two Palestinian brothers who killed two Israeli soldiers near a checkpoint in Hebron last week, Al Jazeera reports.

The demolitions of the homes of Ahmad and Hammouda al-Jaabeh came on the eighth day of an Israeli military offensive in the occupied West Bank city. The brothers were killed after the 23 October attack near the Farsh al-Hawa checkpoint, which also wounded three soldiers.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said at least 12 Palestinians were detained when residents approached the site afterwards. The Hebron municipality says nearly 5,000 people from 780 families have been displaced by the operation, and the correspondent reported that at least 120 people have been arrested. Israeli officials have threatened to accelerate demolitions in Area C under measures backed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
