A child and an adult were killed and several other people injured on Saturday when a vehicle was driven across a field during a soccer game at the Stryker soccer complex in Wichita, Kansas, police said.
The driver has been arrested, Wichita police said at a news conference, adding that two young people were also inside the vehicle. Police have not released the names or ages of those who died, pending notification of relatives, and did not know how the vehicle got on to the pitch or how fast it was going. The condition of the injured has not been disclosed.
A witness told a local television station that a pickup truck crossed the youth pitches and struck several people. The city has cancelled all events at the complex while the investigation continues, The Guardian reported.
