Man who sent Labour MP Henry Tufnell anti-English abuse gets suspended sentence

·

A 59-year-old man who left an abusive note at the constituency office of Labour MP Henry Tufnell has been given a suspended prison sentence for racially aggravated harassment, GB News reports.

Michael Glover admitted the offence after leaving the note on the door of the Mid and South Pembrokeshire MP's office in Haverfordwest in March. It insulted the MP for being English and said Glover had been near the home of Mr Tufnell's mother. Prosecutors said Glover had wanted help with a Blue Badge disabled parking application, which in Wales is handled by councils, not MPs.

At Swansea Crown Court, Judge Mark Powell KC imposed six months in prison suspended for a year, a five-year restraining order and a victim surcharge. In a statement, Mr Tufnell said the episode had made him worry about his family's safety and the security of his address.
