Estonian swimmer Keira Rattur has kept her world title in the 50 metres breaststroke at the world championships for swimmers with Down syndrome, held in Albufeira, Portugal, ERR News reports. She won in 46.33 seconds, ahead of Mariia Ageeva, competing under a neutral flag, and Portugal's Matilde Lucia Gaspar.
It is Rattur's second gold of the event, following victory in the 100m breaststroke on Monday, and her third medal in three days after bronze in the 200m on Sunday. Her coach, Eili Paap, said the plan to defend the title had worked and that Rattur had again shown she was among the best in the world. Around 172 swimmers from 24 countries are taking part in the championships, which began on 30 October and finish on Friday.
