Governments of EU member states have been urged in recent days to remove Yusha Group from the bloc's sanctions list. Yusha is a Chinese textile company alleged to have sold sensitive technology from Europe to buyers in Russia, the South China Morning Post reports, citing several sources.
Under the proposed arrangement, Beijing has promised that Yusha will no longer send prohibited goods to Russian military-linked customers. China would also take German company Sindlhauser Materials off its own export control list.
Sindlhauser is reported to supply the Dutch chip equipment maker ASML, Europe's most valuable technology company, so the deal is intended to protect ASML's supply chain. The newspaper describes the exchange as unusual and the result of negotiations at the highest political level between the EU and China. No decision has yet been reported.
