A Finnish programme that follows a dog and her six newborn puppies around the clock is attracting millions of viewers, The Guardian reports.
Pentulive, made by the public broadcaster Yle and now in its sixth season, combines a 24-hour webcam with evening chats with the breeder, a podcast and alerts about milestones such as weigh-ins. The Lagotto Romagnolo puppies will be named by viewers' vote on Saturday, and will go to new homes in mid-December.
The show is part of the Nordic slow TV trend that began in Norway in 2009 with a seven-hour train journey on NRK. This year it is also being shown in Sweden, and Yle has sold the format to a Dutch broadcaster. Its creator, science journalist Pirjo Koskinen, said it offers viewers relief from grim world news.
