Meta rolls out Muse AI avatar video calls to all US users

·

Meta has made Muse Voice, which lets people hold voice and video calls with its consumer AI agent Muse, available to everyone in the United States. The feature, first shown at Meta's Connect conference in September, is powered by new models called Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice. Users talk to an animated character, by default a figure nicknamed Jolly, and can change it to look like a person, an animal or another character. Meta says the avatar will use small facial expressions and gestures to match the tone of a conversation, betting that a more human-like agent will make people feel closer to it. Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announced the rollout, which comes ahead of a planned small wearable device for Muse due before the end of the year.
