Meta strategy chief Dave Wehner leaves to become CFO of Fireworks

·

Meta’s head of strategy is departing for Fireworks, a company that helps businesses run open artificial-intelligence models, CNBC reports. Dave Wehner said on Friday he would become the startup’s chief financial officer. Fireworks was founded in 2022 by people who previously worked at Meta and Google, and a July fundraising round led by Atreides Management, Index Ventures and TCV valued it at 17.5 billion dollars. Nvidia and Sequoia Capital are also investors. Business Insider reported it is in early talks to raise more money at a much higher valuation. Wehner joined Facebook in 2012 and ran its finances from 2014 to 2022. Meta chief operating officer Javier Olivan said he had steered the company through 14 years of growth and complexity. Fireworks said in October it had found a security incident involving unauthorised use of internal credentials in a limited number of customer accounts.
