New South Wales police have offered a A$250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and extradition of Anthony Pele, 25, whom they describe as one of Australia's highest-priority fugitives. Officers allege he leads the Coconut Cartel and has helped direct violence in Sydney's underworld from overseas, including a feud with the Alameddine crime network. Pele is believed to have fled after the July 2023 shooting of Ahmad Al-Azzam in Greenacre, which police call a case of mistaken identity, and is thought to be in Vietnam. Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree said outstanding warrants cover murder and related offences and that a Red Notice is in force. Police minister Yasmin Catley called him a horrific criminal and urged tip-offs to Crime Stoppers. Australia has an extradition treaty with Vietnam.
