A Russian-installed court in occupied Donetsk has sentenced the blogger Tetiana Montian to 18 months in prison for alleged extremism, the Kyiv Independent reports. She was also barred from running websites for two years.
Montian, who was born in Kerch in 1972, has backed Russia's war against Ukraine and addressed the UN Security Council at Moscow's invitation days before the full-scale invasion. She has, however, repeatedly accused Vladimir Putin and Kremlin officials of incompetence and corruption. The case rests on a 2022 livestream in which she urged people to "take down" Russian propagandists; she says she meant blocking their accounts, not violence.
