Parents of nurse Alex Pretti demand DOJ release evidence of ICE shooting

·

The parents of Alex Pretti, a US citizen and intensive care nurse shot dead by immigration officers in Minneapolis nine months ago, have accused the federal government of keeping them in the dark and demanded the release of all evidence, NBC News reports.

At a news conference on Tuesday, Michael and Susan Pretti said they had been ignored for 275 days, despite writing to the attorney general, Todd Blanche, asking for basic information including the names of the officers involved. A Justice Department spokesperson said contact with families usually comes later in a case, such as at indictment or trial.

The Hennepin County attorney, Mary Moriarty, said last week that federal authorities had stopped sharing information with Minnesota investigators. Her office sued the administration in March to obtain the evidence, and the Justice Department has asked a court to dismiss that case.
