Swedish prosecutors have charged Ildar Galiyev, 26, whom media describe as a leading figure in the Stockholm-based Dalen Network, over almost a dozen murders and attempted murders, The Local Sweden reports, citing AFP.
He is accused of orchestrating attacks during a gang feud in 2023 and 2024, partly by recruiting others, some of them young people, to carry them out. The charges include a bombing of a residential building that killed a bystander and the shooting of an 18-year-old at a sports ground. Galiyev was extradited from Greece in February and denies all charges, his lawyer said.
The trial is due to open on 3 November and run until March 2027. Prosecutor Mats Ihlbom said the case showed authorities reaching the people directing violence from abroad. Gang-related shootings and bombings in Sweden have fallen sharply this year.
