Prices of detached houses in Sweden dropped unusually steeply in October, while apartment prices went up, according to figures from the state-owned bank SBAB and property site Booli, The Local Sweden reported. Overall home prices fell 1.5% compared with September, a month in which prices normally ease.
House prices declined in all six regions and were down 2.4% nationally, which SBAB chief economist Robert Boije called a heavy fall after strong gains earlier in the year. By contrast, apartments performed unusually well and are now only about 4% below their peak in spring 2022, he said. In Greater Stockholm, Boije said, the downturn that followed the inflation and interest rate shock of 2022 has now essentially been reversed for apartments.
