Sydney Metro has raised its morning peak passenger forecasts for four stations on the last section of the M1 driverless line, which opens between Sydenham and Bankstown on Friday, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The biggest rise is at Dulwich Hill, where the 8am to 9am weekday forecast has gone up by 300 to 1,000 passengers, while Hurlstone Park, Canterbury and Belmore are each up by 200. Forecasts for Bankstown and Campsie have fallen by 100 each, to 2,100 and 1,400, with the Bankstown drop put down to fewer on-street parking spaces.
The paper says new housing is the main reason for the changes. Sydney Metro expects weekday trips on the line to rise by 13 per cent to 300,000 once the 13-kilometre south-west section opens, taking the line to 66 kilometres.
