US President Donald Trump has blamed immigration for the violent unrest in France, GB News reports, writing on his Truth Social platform that France was burning and that migrants with hatred in their hearts had shattered the country. He urged Western nations to close their borders and take control before it was too late.
Vice President JD Vance also commented, saying Western liberals had imported the third world into France in the name of diversity, and that he hoped Americans were watching. Their remarks followed a day on which, according to the report, more than 550,000 people demonstrated across France and over 1,800 were arrested. The French Interior Ministry said about 500 police officers, gendarmes and firefighters were hurt on Saturday, while retailers reported damage to around 1,500 shops. The 143-year-old town hall in Limoges was largely destroyed by fire.
