Both candidates in Brazil's presidential run-off are seeking to have the other disqualified, Al Jazeera reports, days before Sunday's vote. Lawyers for right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro asked the Superior Electoral Court on Tuesday to annul President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's candidacy, alleging abuse of power through mass WhatsApp messages promoting government programmes during the campaign. They want Lula and communications minister Sidônio Palmeira barred from office for eight years.
Lula's campaign said it would file its own request on Wednesday, alleging algorithmic manipulation by Meta to harm his chances. The court had given Meta 24 hours to show it was treating both campaigns equally, and the company said it had complied. Bolsonaro won the first round with 47% to Lula's 45%, and polls suggest a close race.
