Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has told Vladimir Putin he is willing to discuss territory if the two leaders meet in person, Meduza reports, citing Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha's interview with the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
The message was passed to Putin by Finland's President Alexander Stubb and Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in a phone call on 27 October, which Sybiha said was arranged in co-ordination with Kyiv. As well as proposing a meeting, Ukraine called for a ceasefire.
Sybiha said only a meeting between the two presidents was likely to change the course of negotiations, and that Zelensky was prepared to address the most difficult issues. The call was Putin's first contact with European leaders who back Ukraine since July 2025. Peace talks are expected in Abu Dhabi in early November.
