Police in Victoria are investigating the deaths of a woman and a young child who were found outside an apartment block in Box Hill, in Melbourne's east, on Thursday evening, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Officers were called shortly before 6.20pm local time after reports that a woman had been found unresponsive outside the flats in Prospect Street. Police said a child of primary school age was found unresponsive nearby a short time later. Neither could be revived, and both died at the scene.
Detectives cordoned off the area while they investigated. Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. They have asked anyone who saw what happened, or who has information, to contact Crime Stoppers.
