Iran threatens Gulf oil sites and AI data centres if US and Israel attack again

·

A senior Iranian security official has warned that Iran would target oil facilities, undersea cables, data centres and artificial intelligence sites in up to seven Gulf countries if the United States and Israel renew attacks, The Guardian reports.

Mohsen Rezaei, who heads the secretariat of Iran's top security body, was quoted by Iranian media as saying such infrastructure could not be treated as immune while Iran's own economy came under attack. An adviser to the parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Ghalibaf, said Tehran would treat a new conflict as an existential threat.

The warnings follow US media reports that American military planners have drawn up targets for a possible joint strike after the US midterm elections on 3 November. Foreign ministers from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt and three European countries are due to meet in Istanbul on Friday to discuss the regional crises.
