A tanker carrying Russian diesel has left the port of Primorsk bound for New York, the first cargo to sail under the fuel arrangement struck between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, NBC News reports.
The Kremlin confirmed the departure of the Malta-flagged Agioi Fanendes. The research firm Energy Aspects said it was carrying 298,000 barrels and was due to arrive on 10 November, just after the midterm elections. That is less than a single day of US diesel demand, and analysts expect a limited effect on prices.
The average US diesel price has risen 78% this year, to $6.32 a gallon, following supply shocks from the wars involving Iran and Ukraine. The deal, which eased some sanctions on Moscow, has angered Kyiv and its supporters in Congress.
