Juneau seeks public views on draft transport plan for older and disabled residents

·

A coalition of transport providers in Juneau is asking residents to comment on a draft plan that will decide whether local services can keep receiving state-administered grant funding until 2031, the Juneau Empire reports.

The Juneau Coordinated Transportation Coalition, working with the City and Borough of Juneau and Capital Transit, has produced the 2026 Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan. It must be updated every five years for providers to stay eligible for funding through the Alaska Community Transit Office, and it aims to improve transport for older people, disabled people and those on low incomes.

The update includes new demographic and ridership figures, survey results and project priorities. The draft goes to an Assembly committee on 2 November, written comments are open until 9 November, and residents can speak at the Assembly meeting on 16 November.
