Two thirds of Finns are against moving towards normal relations with Russia, according to a survey for the newspaper Ilta-Sanomat reported by Yle News.
Respondents were asked whether diplomatic, economic and personal ties between the two countries should eventually be restored to how they were before. About a quarter backed starting such a process. The opposition was consistent across every age group.
The poll was carried out by Taloustutkimus at the end of October using an online panel of more than 1,100 people, with a margin of error of about three percentage points.
Finnish leaders have said recent contacts do not signal the start of normalisation with Moscow. Finland closed its border with Russia in late 2023, accusing Moscow of deliberately directing migrants towards it, and the crossings remain shut.
