Akinwumi Adesina, the former president of the African Development Bank, has said he is ready to help Nigeria in any role, after briefing President Bola Tinubu on his decade at the bank, Premium Times reports.
Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr Adesina said he felt a duty to contribute to the country’s development but insisted he was not looking for a government job. No appointment was announced after the meeting.
An agricultural economist, Mr Adesina was Nigeria’s agriculture minister from 2011 to 2015 under Goodluck Jonathan. He then became the first Nigerian to head the continental lender, winning election in 2015 and a second five-year term in 2020, before his tenure ended in 2025.
