The 16-year-old who killed three children and a teacher at a school in Bend, Oregon, earlier this month had been the victim of two assaults in recent years, according to police records reported by NBC News.
Griffin John II opened fire in a special-needs classroom at Silver Rail Elementary School on 15 October before he was shot dead by a man whose two daughters attend the school. Two other people were injured.
A 2022 police report says a friend of his sister slapped and punched him at home when he was 11, chipping a tooth. His sister told officers he had said he was being bullied at school, and the officer noted he appeared to have a cognitive disability. Investigators have not established a motive, and earlier records described a troubled and unstable home life.
