Two small parties led by former BC Conservative MLAs are fighting to be noticed in British Columbia's snap election, which takes place on Saturday, The Globe and Mail reports. The contest is mainly between the Conservatives and David Eby's NDP, with the Greens also in contention.
Elenore Sturko of CentreBC, which aims at moderate voters, is fielding 35 candidates for the 93 seats and hopes to win at least two, though she admits that will be hard. She said the early election left her party short of time to organise. Dallas Brodie's OneBC, which held two seats before the vote, is running 34 candidates on a socially conservative platform.
Both leaders were expelled from the Conservative caucus by former leader John Rustad in 2025. It is the first time since 1996 that voters have had more than three parties with sitting members to choose from.
