Two men arrested in North Jutland on Monday have been charged with espionage, Danish police said, The Local Denmark reports. The charges were brought at a court hearing in Aalborg on Tuesday afternoon, and North Jutland Police said the case is being handled together with the intelligence services.
Police gave no further details. However, the public broadcaster DR reported that the intended target was MyDefence, a Danish company that specialises in detecting and jamming drones. According to DR, both suspects are Ukrainian nationals in their early twenties and were assisted by a Russian interpreter at the hearing.
Denmark, like other European countries backing Ukraine, has been on heightened alert for Russian espionage. Drones have become central to the war in Ukraine, used by both sides for attacks and surveillance.
