Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, says she is deeply distressed by allegations that her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr, possessed child sexual abuse images, The Guardian reports.
The claims, published by The Sun, come from her half-brother Thomas Markle Jr, who reportedly told police in the Philippines that he found the material at his father's former home in Cebu. Markle Sr has denied the accusations, telling the Daily Mail they were lies.
In a statement, Meghan said a letter containing troubling allegations about her father was sent to the Metropolitan Police in 2018 and shared with her, and that she was assured they were being investigated. She said her decision to keep her children away from him had been made to protect them, and that she hoped justice would be served.
