Trump again suggests he could seek a third term, repeating stolen election claim

·

President Donald Trump has once more floated the idea of standing for a third term in 2028, even though the US Constitution limits presidents to two elected terms, Euronews reports.

Speaking at a rally in Iowa, Trump accepted that the constitutional wording leaves little room for interpretation, and said he had studied it closely. He argued, however, that he should be allowed to stand again because, he claimed, the 2020 presidential election was rigged and stolen from him.

Trump's claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 election have never been substantiated, and courts and election officials rejected them at the time. The Twenty-second Amendment bars anyone from being elected president more than twice. His comments come as Americans vote early in next month's midterm elections.
