Seven people, three of them children, were killed and 11 injured when a lorry crashed into two cars and five motorcycles in Gombe State, north-east Nigeria, Premium Times reports.
The crash happened at about 5.30pm on Thursday at a junction on the Gombe to Billiri road in Kumo, Akko local government area. A report by the Federal Road Safety Corps blamed suspected brake failure, which led the driver of the heavy lorry, travelling towards Yola, to lose control.
The injured, four men, three women and four girls, suffered fractures, cuts and bruises and were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Kumo. The agency said 25 people were involved in total. The vehicles have been handed to police in Kumo for further investigation, and the victims have not yet been named.
