Jordan's King Abdullah has ordered security forces to pursue those behind Friday's attack on a church funeral in Karak governorate, which the royal court says killed eight people and wounded 40, Al Jazeera reports.
Gunmen opened fire for several minutes during a service at a Greek Orthodox church about 120km south-west of Amman. Authorities called it an act of extremist terrorism. No group has said it carried out the attack, and officials say it is too early to tell whether the attackers had links to known groups. They are still being sought.
Jordan has declared three days of national mourning and increased security at shopping centres, embassies and other sites. The king visited Karak after the attack, and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan blamed what he called a terrorist ideology.
