Anamola, the Mozambican opposition party led by former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, says another of its local officials has been killed, in Zavala district in southern Inhambane province, according to a report published by AllAfrica.
The party named the victim as António Siquela, its organiser in the village of Massava, and accused members of the riot police of stopping and assaulting him. It has called for an independent and transparent investigation and for those responsible to face the law.
Anamola says almost 60 of its members have been killed since it was formally set up in August 2025. The Centre for Democracy and Development, a prominent Mozambican NGO, recently condemned the killings and accused President Daniel Chapo of staying silent, urging the justice system to investigate quickly and independently.
